I guess y'all didn't get the text email that explained the .ppt slideshow... When the SRB hits the water it fills up with water. I'll let Scott Bonis fill you in on Solid Fuel propulsion and why it fills up with water, if he wants... So the SRB fills up and floats vertical with the exhaust nozzle 110 feet down. The plug has a compressed air line in it. The insert the buttplug and pump air in, which forces the water out, like a ballast tank on a submarine. Then the SRB fills with air and floats horizontaly on the surface.
