Subject: Just returned from the Beneath the Sea Conference...
Date: Sat, 24 Mar 2001 17:50:34 -0500
Hi All,

I just returned from the Beneath the Sea Conference in NJ. My friends and I
stopped by at the Mares booth and saw what is possibly the most innovative
product to hit the market in a long time..... Thermo, Halcyon, OMS,
Sherwood.... They all have it wrong! Never again will your tank slip from
a cam buckle because the cam buckle loosened up! On display was the new
pneumatically operated cam buckle tank adapter..... Powered from a low
pressure hose from your first stage. Simple to use, exerting equal and
consistent pressure all the time! Simply slip the BC over the tank, connect
the hose, push the button and the cam buckle automatically tightens around
the tank. It's probably depth compensating and as the pressure drops and
the tank slightly becomes slimmer, the cam buckle automatically adjusts!
Can you believe it, what an innovative product! <<grin>> I'M FUCKING
KIDDING!!!!

Seriously, the product was real, actually had to stop by and see it work.
We couldn't ask any questions cause I would have cracked up! Can you
imagine the stupidity of this product? Adding another hose as a failure
point just to tighten the tank strap! We all could not believe what we were
seeing!! I guess in an out of air situation and the intermediate pressure
drops, the cam loosens and the tank automatically ditches itself for faster
surfacing? :-) We honestly had to focus all our strength not to start
cracking up and saying this was the stupidest product we had ever seen. We
could not believe what we were seeing! Truly the comedic highlight of the
show! Mares probably bought the rights from the same company that makes
that pony system that charges itself from the HP port on your main..... I
think this one is even more stupid than that one. I would not have imagined
that a more stupid product could have been created but it was! I honestly
would love to know how much they expect to sell this product for? Probably
really expensive!

What's next, a pneumatically operated weight compensating weight belt
buckle? Keeps constant pressure as you increase depth?

Where will the stupidity stop, we were speechless.

Art.
