What kind of glass shall be used for test tubes.

I am interested mostly about mechanical characteristics.

Wall thickness?

I can get Pyrex Test tubes or Test tubes made by glassblower from Quartz
glass. Wall thickness 1,5 mm. Glassblower advises quartz glass, and he makes
them optically very correct. Temperature characteristics are also better.
What about mechanical?

Which glass is most appropriate? Which one is the toughest (hard to smash
into pieces)?
