The only place this makes sense is when doing rec. dives and wanting 
to do a couple of safety stops.  Doing a 2 minute stop at 1/2 the maz 
depth and a 3 min. stop at 15, I find it annoying not to have a 
seconds display, because I end up having to round up, and might do a 
2.59 minute stop.  It's just boring, and since I want to be setup 
with 2 timing devices anyway, I just made sure the second one has 
seconds on it.  It's not a question of timing stuff to the second, 
it's a question of getting  an idea  of where you are in the minute, 
beginning or end.

Other than that I agree with what you say.
