Paul There is no such thing as inevitable damage. Tere are rules for this, while the still have neither a clue, nor an evidence of damage done. I would be glad to here of scientifically valid studies. While we do not have these, caution rules in children scuba education. We teach children beginning at the age of ten, but only after they have completed full free diving skills, and swimming without fins capability. Training is done in the pool, usaally last 3 months. No open water before age of 12, no cold temps, short dives, accompanied by 2 adults, depth limited. This is no more in line with my association, these want to get them in earlier. I do not follow these standards, because I feel the mental capacities of an 8 year old youth should be focused primely on safe ground. ( No rule without exception, but "standard" agency training is far from qualifieng an instructor to judge this). > Anybody who allows a kid to use compressed air is out of his mind. > We have no idea what the inevitable microbubble damage will do to > growing bones, brain etc. I fully agree with this : > As far as people embolizing at 50'...with the way PADi trains I'm > sure it happens all the time.
