Actually just to throw some crap in the game I'll say that it looks like a slick product for a niche market. While I don't think this unit would have much of a draw for the consumer market due to the limitations imposed by a 31 cu ft cylinder, it would be just the ticket for the resort course industry. Just think, nothing to put together, just slip on this backpack (you can't even see anything except the hoses coming out of it). For someone who gets a 2 or 3 hour resort course (read "lecture") and then is taken on a hand-held 30 minute reef dive in 20-30 ft of water, it is perfect. Certainly it is not the ticket for a "tech diver" but neither is about 90 % of the dive gear on the market. The biggest problem I see with this is that it is priced for the consumer market where it really wouldn't sell. Also since it would be used in warm water where no exposure suit would be required other than maybe a thin vest, you could skip the buoyancy compensator. 10 year olds diving is another thing. While I would not propose 10 year olds out diving on their own, I have no particular problem if they are diving with their parents or an instructor - both of whom, for the sake of this argument, are qualified, competent & safe divers. Remember, you can fly a plane at younger than that age if accompanied by an instructor, a far more dangerous activity, I might add! And, no Paul, we don't know what effect it will have on their budding little bodies. But I do know that the crap they sell kids in schools in vending machines (candy, sodas, & other junk food) will make them obese and diabetic in later life. Haven't seen the government come in and ban that activity, now have we! There, that ought to start something!
