Max, defending a zippered pocket by saying "I never had one jam" 
is mindless.

I've had all kinds of zippers jam. The fact is, zips have the
potential to jam, velcro doesn't. Add silt and sand and water and
the potential soars.

But hey, don't let reason influence you. Go right ahead and go 
with the zipper. Just remember, by so doing you're ignoring reality. 
And that is a stupid thing to do when it comes to choosing extreme 
diving gear.
