I will not argue with George Irvine who happens to know what he is talking about. However, in Europe, we get contradictory information on the tanks issue (Al vs steel, etc.): (1). It is considered that steel tanks (chrome-molybdenum steel) are safer, last longer and require less weights; (2). Aluminum tanks are not widely available in Europe ... they never hit this market and, as far as I know, they are not produced in the union, are they ? If they really weigh 1/5th of a steel tank and cost 1/3rd, being EQUALLY safe (are they ?) I would certainly welcome them ... But, again, if they are so much better for ocean diving, light and much cheaper: why didnt they ever hit the euro market ? Could any one explain this ? Or ... are we being fooled by the "market-forces" in Europe, too ? As far as I know (hehe, no flame intended), we still have a less of a circus in the euro market ... dont we ? cheers, aldo.solari@ho*.se* www.ccbb.ulpgc.es/fish-ecology/solaris ___ -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
