yeah even the abyss software is bloated and complicated to use. for a timer get a sunnto vyper and use it in gauage mode. its backlit, field/user replaceable battery, has download ability, date date, time entered h20,temp, plenty of memory and the best feature for my money, you can get a strap that will fit around your arm while wearing a dry suit. plus it comes in all black, so you can look like a ninja, if that sort of thing concerns you.....................
