One of the major failure points in underwater electrical devices is the
battery chamber access. The Uwatec unit eliminates this by not having an
access. They will last over 10 years without a battery change which is
sufficient unless you want to purchase a 10 year old used one.

But if you dive in the Bermuda Triangle and have to have a user changeable
battery then you need to purchase a regular dive computer which has gauge
mode & battery access. The Viper, the Nitec III and a couple of others are
out there. Nitec III's are starting to show up on the used market for sale.

The computers give you the added benefit of recording your dive in gauge
mode (at least this is the case with the Nitek) so when you get bent you can
download see where you fucked up.
