Not Everyone dives the same. A lot of people on this list believe in the DIR 
it certainly works for many people & has many good features. But not everyone 
dives that way. Just like not everyone drives like they teach in drivers ED 
yet many of these drivers/divers manage to complete many thousands of miles & 
dives with out a hitch.

If you have a team approach to diving, a common setup ( gear configuration & 
gases & dive plan) for all team members makes a lot of sense.  But it is not 
common for most divers to work in a team. we generaly function as individuals 
on the same boat or wreck. The system must work because not all of them die 
or get bent. these people have many dives under thier belts and could NOT 
have gotten along on luck all this time. Their system may not be the best, 
but it is good enough to work for them.
