Lists, For the past 2 months, some members of these Lists have been beta-testing of a decompression program for the Palm called "DecoWeenie". It generates deco profiles comparable to DecoPlanner and Zplan in different OC and CC modes. Here is a brief "spam" on the program... FEATURES -------- - Open-circuit mode (OC). - Closed-circuit mode (CC). - OC deco on CC mode (for rebreather with small canister). - OC bailout on CC mode. - Estimates OC gas consumption. - Computes CC fixed or multiple setpoints as well as multiple diluents. - Uses the well-proven ZHL-16B or 16C algorithm by A.A. Bühlmann. - Allows any gas mixture containing Helium, Oxygen, and Nitrogen. - Optimizes the OC deco mixes gas-switch depths to minimize deco. - Option to maximize O2 window deco stop. - Option to skip non-mandatory stops after a "maximum O2 window" stop. - Set your END. - Set your ascent/descent rates. - Calculates CNS% and OTUs. - Calculates END of CC mode. - Pyle deep safety stops. - Porter APR deep safety stops. - Option to update tissues following Pyle / Porter stops or not. - Repetitive dives. - Displays in metric or imperial units. - Time-to-fly (and time-to-altitude) calculations. - Diving at altitude. - Oxygen can be made narcotic. In addition, RGBM license from Bruce Wienke was available to implement into DecoWeenie, but was not done due to insufficient funding/support. HOW MUCH -------- Originally, I intended for DecoWeenie to be a "CharityWare" program which means that you must make a fixed amount of donation to charity in exchange for the use of DecoWeenie. I even approached reputable charity organizations to arrange for secured on-line, credit-card charge option to make it easy to make donations if there are enough supports. However, eventhough we had over 130 people on the beta-testing list, only about 30 were willing to support the charityware idea. With such lack of response, I have decided to restructure the way to distribute future versions. All details will be updated on the PalmPlanner website given below. This version (0.99) is released *AS IS* to show such a program is possible on the Palm platform. Hopefully, better programs will be available soon. I know Mat Bloedorn is in the process of converting MPlan to the Palm platform as well. There shall be no support whatsoever for this version, so please make good use of the Manual. HOW TO GET IT ------------- If you have a Palm and are interested in DecoWeenie, please visit "http://www.egroups.com/group/PalmPlanner" to download the latest version "DecoWeenie" (0.99) and the Manual (MS-Office 2000 Word document). Since Yahoo! bought eGroups, you must register with Yahoo! before allowed access to this site. Updates will only be broadcasted thru this Yahoo! site in the future. In addition, you might be able get copies of both at Jim Cobb's trimix site "http://www.cisatlantic.com/trimix/trimix.html". Please be aware that the last version on Jim's site was "7of9" which was a much earlier beta version. Future update of the program will not be available at Jim's site. Since the Palm screen is relatively small, a lot of the text (i.e. prompt, output) is shorten to fit the screen thus it is easy to be confused if it is the first time you are using the program. However, the Manual should answer any question you might have so *please* be sure to read it. Thanks, -Phi -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
