Subject: RE: Apeks Regs
Tom,

I've been using Apeks 'T' series since Apeks started making them=2E I have=20=
 =20
a first run T40 (before they added the 'X') which has never been serviced =20=
=20
and has had everything from helium to oxygen to argon, welding, medical =20
and diving grades, and I still use it on penetration stage bottles=2E

The service kits are dirt cheap for starters, but even so the o-rings are =20=
=20
European metric o-rings=2E Considering how many regs are actually based on=20=
 =20
European designs I'm sure there is no problem in getting spares=2E As has =20=
=20
been mentioned, these regs are bombproof anyway=2E

Try getting o-rings, connectors and hoses for Poseidon that aren't =20
branded by Poseidon and then complain about "unique"=2E

Also according to the Apeks
> Factory service
> representative, Enriched Air mixes above 23 percent are strictly
> not recommended=2E

Apeks regs have never been maker-certified for use with EAN/O2, except =20
for the "nitrox" branded ones which were a rip-off anyway=2E They began =20
making them at the height of the early 90's "nitrox will kill you" =20
silliness when manufacturers of most equipment slapped "do not use" legal =20=
=20
disclaimers on everything just in case=2E Most makers, including Poseidon,=20=
 =20
still do the same=2E I use Apeks TX40's or older T40's on everything, no =20
reg is in O2 service and none has let me down yet=2E I did have a Scubapro=20=
 =20
1st stage blow apart on a deco bottle underwater and a Poseidon seized up =20=
=20
completely on another dive, both regs were younger and had seen less =20
diving than any of my Apeks=2E

If you want to go by the book and don't mind wasting money then service =20
kits are available and I think they still do the green and yellow =20
"nitrox" versions=2E

Cheers,

Stuart =20
