Once you follow the techdiver`s list, and even participate (without =
telling your name, by the way), you can see that they turned that list =
into a fight arena, between the gods and the poor humans. Can`t you see =
that nobody can win this fight ? A serious tool, which should be used to =
exchange ideas between people with something in common : The passion for =
diving, is beeing used by imature guys only to enlarge their EGO, to =
tell everybody that they are the "underwater supermen".=20
When I met you here in Belo Horizonte, you seemed to be a good guy, you =
were supporting Marcus Werneck on a TechDive Course and I noticed that =
you were serious. I know that students, I meet with them now and then, =
and I believe their course was good. But imagine, just imagine, if one =
of those guys decides to follow the gods ? How could he do that ? Maybe =
making great dives, deep, decompressive, just a little bit beyond their =
trainning level. And if something goes wrong ? As my Intro to cave =
instructor (do you know who was him ?) once said :"Shit happens.... =
should not !! "=20
If this guy who was very well trainned and conscious, dies during this =
dive !! Would you be guilty ????. He knew his limits, he knew it was =
dangerous, but he decided to go "just a little bit beyond" and died !!! =
Would you be guilty ???? Of course not !!! because you did your job well =
done, you explained the dangers, the limits, YOU WARNED HIM !!! But even =
knowing everything, he did it, on his own risk.
I am also a techdive instructor, and I believe that the major concern of =
ANY instructor is to have his name on a dead guy`s dive certification =
card. How can we avoid this to happen ??? This is a good discussion !!! =
HOW CAN WE DO THAT ???????
I was Marcus`s student, I know he is very serious and I learned a lot =
with him, he is a great instructor and a good friend , but I was also =
Afonso`s student and I can tell you without any doubt that he is as =
serious as Marcus is. I believe that both of them have already done =
stupid things, they are human, but I also believe that they have learned =
and growned up to become what they are know: Great professionals.
So I will propose a deal to you and the others : Let the Yankes discuss =
with themselves, with all their puritanism and let us brazilian try to =
be more civilized, without judgement, without lies, without trying to be =
gods. Togheter we can learn, improve our diving skills and knowledge, =
and the most important : DIVE SAFELLY. Lets meet, fight to open our =
caves, dive togheter, exchange our experiences. A good dive buddy is =
just like a good horse, is hard to find. We can not afford this stupid =
childish fight, lets grow up!!!!
