Subject: Re: re nitrogen elimination and oxygen
Just to back up this last point, its been a well established fact in medicine
that any ppO2 over 40% for more than 24 hours has a strong potential to cause
permanent lung damage. When my son took a chamber ride at Duke last summer
after a minor type I bend, the doc there told me that many of their patients
have at least some lung symptoms after even the shortest table treatments.
I wonder if they would have fewer problems and better treatment if they adopted
a schedule of more frequent air breaks. The Comex treatment tables using heliox
instead of pure oxygen at the deeper chamber stops are also intriguing along
this line.
