Hi All, Rick Fincher wrote, >Most of the paint was flaking off and had blisters underneath from >oxidation. Since these were aluminum, the oxidation was self limiting >and was not a problem. That's the theory with alloy cylinders but not what happens in real life. The corrosion follows the grain boundary and causes tiny pinhole leaks. It will also follow the boundary between the valve and the cylinder, wrecking the O ring land. It doesn't happen all that often but is does happen. We have about 10 cylinders in the bin at work that won't hold gas. They pass hydro, but they leak. (I work at a hydro station in case you thought I was letting corrosion get out of hand) Cheers Jason :)
