VB Tech had great and successful weekend on the Marine Electric Expedition planned and coordinated by Capt JT on the Miss Lindsey out of Virginia Beach. We departed Saturday about 12:15 AM, with 1-2 foot seas and arrived on station around 6 AM, and hooked the wreck. By 8 AM the initial dive teams were in the water setting up the preliminary bountries for the survey and penetrations. Each team made several dives through the day and Sunday. Capt JT and Rick Atkinson with support from Erik Deisterconcentrated on the stern section and achieve several deep penetrations into the stern area including the galley, passageways, and engine areas. Video and photograph documentation of the wreck and penetration areas were made in spite of the low vis and sediment. Teams investigated the bow section and made several pentrations. The group is still assembling all the information and artifacts. Several answers were found by the teams, it should cause some previous divers to the wreck to reexamine what they claim to have done on the wreck. Additional information will be release in JT's trip report or a made available by a freelance writer who was onboard for a magazine article and is also writing a book on the "Marine Electric".
