Hello all, I tried to post this on techdiver this morning, but I haven't seen it yet - whew, I think the net is screwed up this morning! So if you see it again, sorry and please ignore it. This was posted to rec.scuba, and being of a "technical" nature, I thought some of you might enjoy it... Christina -------------------------------Begin Include------------------------------ From: bbell@ku*.gu*.ne* (Brian Bell) Subject: FAQ More Bottom Time thru Chemistry Organization: Kuentos Communications Inc. Date: Tue, 28 Feb 1995 13:04:05 GMT I had made a comment a few weeks ago regarding the use of enzymes to increase oxygen tranfer rates to the blood thus decreasing the amount of air required for a given task. I received 34 responses asking for more info, citing recent studies regarding one-hour breath holding, and others calling me a quack. So here is all the info you need to make your own decision regarding this stuff. I began using this enzyme to increase O2 absorbtion as an immune-booster, which is what the product is designed to do. One day, just before a dive, I took a rather large dose by mistake. This prticular dive is one I do every week...same course...same exertion levels...same conditions. I always come up with 700psi. This time I came up with 1800. It didn't dawn on me until much later what the unusual variable was. The following week I did not use the enzyme and came up with 700...the next week, normal dose and arrived with 1300. I have since done a rather crude single-blind test using 14 friend. 7 got the stuff and seven got water with a little citric acid. All seven who received the real stuff noted a marked reduction in their consumption. The following week I mixed up the control groups and did it again. All 7 with the real stuff commented on their lowered consumption. I must note that I do not own any financial or ANY OTHER interest in this product or its maker. I just discovered a great side effect of using their product aqnd thought I would (1) share it here and (2) lower my email charges in the process. The product is called "Oxy-Moxy" mfg'd by En Garde Health Products, Van Nuys, CA. I'm not sure if you can buy direct from En Garde or if you must go thru their resellers. If there is interes in this product, I will post the name of my reseller (if he gives me permission to do so on the net)...otherwise contact En Garde direct for more info and data sheets. Please don't listen to my story...check it out for yourself and post a follow-up. bbell@ku*.gu*.ne* --
