Paul: Like you, We've no Officially GUE-trained instruction locally. So what you do is find divers and instructors nearby who believe in DIR and work with them. If you approach it as a long term relationship instead of a pay and play, you quickly figure out which ones are worth entrusting your life to. Around here, we're just now hearing the call. Guys like Mike Jackson, Mike Ridgeway and Jason Wiesacosky (hi,guys) are pushing the wannabe big dick divers off the field with logical gear choices, no nonsense training and good public relations. We're trying to prevent the same horrendous death rate and the attendant PR problems with the land owners and politicians that plagued Florida in the late 80's. So far, So good. So don't give up, just use your head and what you've learned here. Quiz an instructor like a prospective employee- afterall, you are HIRING him and TRUSTING him with your LIFE!
