David,

What Twin Tank system are you diving? The 400G is just a little restrictive
correct, so you loosened the harness to ge able to reach the isolator valve
and end valves, right. Do you also loosen the waits belt when doing the gas
shutdowns?

All

I have both 200g and 400g, having bought the 400g this year. My intent was
to dive the 400g during the colder months and revert to the 200g for the 3
months mis-appropriately called Summer in the UK. I am still wearing the
400g as it is so warm. DUI do 400g booties as well. However, the suit is
more bulky and requires about 2 Kg additional weight to compensate. I had
to
slacken my harness a tad to ensure that I could still do gas shutdowns with
relative ease.

To give you a non-scientific comparison, at the end of April I first used my
400g Thinsulate and I was comfortable on a 90 minute dive (50 minutes being
ascent and deco therefore static) in 9 deg C and probably colder on the
bottom. Had I been using my 200g thinsulate, I would have been limiting my
in-water time to 70 minutes.

A lot of us use 400G as well you just have to limit the exposure times in
cold water otherwise deco becomes more of a lottery.
