DIR has nothing to do with brand names. Oceanic
regs are fine as are other brands that meet our
criteria ( see the equipment section of the WKPP.org
web site ). Jet Fins are just large heavy rubber
fins that are short and stiff, provide the most
thrust, keep the kick under control in tight spaces,
and hold the drysuit feet down nicely - the best
fins for heavy doubles diving . There are other
reasonable facsimiles. The fin was invented by
Beuchat 30 years ago and licensed to Scuba Pro, USD
and others. No big deal. Halcyon wings are merely a
compilation of what we have always wanted in a wing,
but can get no place else.
Look, if you have no bought equipment and are
looking to do so, go to WKPP.org and see what I have
found works best - save yourself a ton of time and
money that way.
