Don, It just so happens that I have searched the archives and came up with very little to preclude (notice I said PRECLUDE) the use of EAN80 as a deco gas. If someone wants to use EAN50 and 100% O2 for their team then I certainly see no reason to object. But who does Jim think he is to criticize the choice of EAN36 and EAN80 as deco gasses when he has absolutely no clue as to the technical reasons for the other decision. He knows only "Monkey see, Monkey do" from the DIR bible. A clone of the worst kind. I am interested in hearing more about your allusion to the surface as a deco stop and to gas purity issues, and specifically more about what these two subjects have to do with not using EAN36 and EAN80 as the deco gas selection. That puzzled me too. I then went to the archives and read about the evolution of deco in WKPP. JJ didn't make these decisions on a whim. By the way, telling people to go to the archives is quite routine here. I highly recommend it since I've stumbled across some amazing information while looking for other things. I suggest you do the same ... unless, of course you actually don't want to know and really just want a flame war. Note in particular what happens at the surface (which _is_ a deco stop) and the resolution of gas purity issues.
