OK, whatever, in that case you don't need ditcheable weight so why
bother. Fine. *You* come up with a reason why you need ditcheable
weight then. I knew this would happen as soon as I came up with an
example. You're attacking the example, not the crux of the argument,
which remains. I can't think of a good reason to ditch the weight
either, but I can imagine that if I'm in a situation where I would
think about ditching weight, it might not be an all out emergency
yet. As far as deco obligation, maybe you are on your way down,
don't have a deco obligation yet.

You know what, I don't have time for this. I need to get packing
'cause I'm going diving. If you guys don't have enough brains to
figure out that *if* you think that you need ditcheable weight you
might want to do so in a situation that could be an emergency but
isn't one yet, then I give up. I stand by my point though, so far no
one has come up with a reason to convince me that I'm wrong. In the
begginings of a CF, ditching the weight might save you. If that
weight costs $800, you are much less likely to just say "the heck
with it" and dump it. It's pretty simple really.
