I'm talking about modern Dacor/Apollo/Oceanic scooters; they all are made by Pelagic Systems (Oceanic) as near as I can tell, and the only differences between them appear to be where the trigger handles are mounted. Oceanic mounts their's back on the prop guard, while Dacor/Apollo models have them further forward on the main fore shell. Switches are all "deadman" type. I can do without the official Mako pipe-on-a-rope "seat"; I can just see stopping to look at something requiring both hands and having to squeeze my legs together like a virgin just to hold on to the scooter. No, I'm talking about a rope or strap running from the two tow eyelets on the scooter coming back and clipping into my crotchstrap d-ring (which has been placed there for precisely that purpose; thank you Halcyon!). So, given the above, my refined question is: do I put a QR in that strap somewhere so I can free myself from a runaway scooter, or is that "not DIR" in a big way? Generally, QR's are the antithesis of DIR, so I think I can anticipate the answer, but I want to hear it from the horses mouth, so to speak. Thanks.
