Subject: Another Diving Death

List,

what is the story with the third diving fatality this week?
I was only aware of Tony Moffatone and now this guy that Bob Sherwood
mentioned.
Have I missed something?

There is no wonder that technical divers are dropping like flies, with the
current attitude of instructors and training agencies.
The more I learn about this industry the more I despise it.
Someone mentioned the other day on this list, that diving has done well to
keep away from government regulation by regulating itself. I agree with
that but also with the following comment that you can't remember the last
time you were asked for a c-card. I never have been either.
This is becoming far to common in my opinion and I believe that there should
be an independent board or organisation (not the RSTC) that actually gives a
shit and will shut down or heavily fine for this behaviour.
I am sick of the image tech diving is getting.
OPEN YOUR MINDS PEOPLE!!!!

One of my dive buddies used to try and swing me over to DIR and I fought it
every bit of the way. I cant stand the attitude and some of there methods
are way off the ball.

Yeah Right!
Boy was I wrong. I have since adopted their methods and techniques(at least
those I know about) and my diving has improved considerably.

I apologise if this message is all over the place but I am writing as it
comes to mind. To sum up what I am trying to say: Diving industry has no
standards, agencies need a wake up call and to practice what they preach,
and divers need to realise that techniques have evolved i.e.. throw away
your twin independents and double wings. Realise the KISS principle.

Thanks for listening
