Hello, I'm diving in DIR configured SS backplate with 2x15L steel fabers, light canister and with one or two 7L deco bottles. With this configuration I'm perfectly ballanced in warm water. But when diving in cold water (4C) I need appx 6Kg of additional weight to compensate heavy thermal insulation. I'd like to know your opinions and recomendations about possible ways of attaching this weight to divers body. Here are my findings: V-weight: neatly hidden, but the centre of weight is too high, so when turning to one side this weight tries to flip me over which is not very comfortable. belt: - perfect ballance. The centre of gravity is on the right spot, so I've got perfect feeling while swimming in any position. Disadvantage is that there are too many buckles on my stomach. In emergency, when I need to release rig buckle in order to move it over my head to confortably reach valves I may hit the wrong buckle. And my spine hurts a bit under weight belt. Whats your opinion about two buckles on weight belt which should avoid accidentel drop off. intedgated weight system: I didn't try it with backplate yet (don't have any), but I see possible problems with attaching light canister and left hip D-ring over the weight container. When diving with two 7l stages on left side on the end of dive my left side is about 2,5kg lighter because of consumed deco gas. This unbalanced feeling is bit uncomfotable but manageable. Do you guys do something about it ? Best regards Jozef Gliviak Slovakia -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
