This high flow increases adiabatic cooling and can cause ice to form. High flow (top end) regulators, depth and cold water are all contributing factors. <<2. What is a better way to fill a lift bag? >> For planned salvage, it would be best to use a separate air supply such as an air line from a compressor topside or separate tanks with nozzles. For occasional light lifting or to deploy an emergency up-line you can just turn your head sidewise and hold the opening of the bag over your regulator exhaust port as you breath.
