On deep North Atlantic air dives in heavy wreck gear, CO2 and cold are at least as important as nitrogen in causing mental impairment. Breathing all the nitrous oxide or argox in the world at shallow depth won't teach you how to streamline gear, or swim effectively in strong currrent, or dress properly so as to avoid CO2 buildup and hypothermia.
