Hi Phi,
I really have to bow out of this discussion. I just brought the message over
from rec. scuba because I thought it was worthwhile for the list to see. I
don't know "Randy F. Milak" <A HREF="mailto:milak@di*.zz*.co*">milak@divem
ed.zzn.com</A>, but he has been asked for names and the interchange went as
follows;
>From: captjt@mi*.co*
>Subject: DIR talk vs DIR diving
>Date: June 14, 2000
>
> ...<snip>
> I find it strange that out of all the people you gave letters to instead
>of their name, you only named MHK and he wasn't even > on that trip. >What
are you hiding and why are you afraid to give the others names?
... I'm apparently "hiding" and "afraid". YOU want NAMES because you're
apparently the deco police and righteous defender of the faith eh? Gonna
solve the diving worlds problems with a noose I suppose? Allow me to just
kiss the ring and get on with it...
Let me give you a CLUE. Character assassination was not my intent.
Those fuck-ups read this list and the techlist. If they wish to call my
hand ... ... bring it on! I haven't even turned over the ace. They first
named NAMES to me. I posted MHK's name for a VERY good reason. Notice his
absence? There's a good reason for it. I didn't deal this ... ... DIR
hand, and, that last little paragraph of mine was just checking the cards. Ev
entually, I may call the hand. MHK has already drilled me, and HE, has ALL
their names. This is going to be very interesting. You're a dollar LATE,
and a few commen-cents too short...
.... In the mean time, I'll send an email, to your email address, so you can
as well, CLUE-in to WHERE I'm hiding.

The following excerpt is particularly interesting.
This is NOT an agency problem. Diver B is an IANTD instructor trainer.
Diver D is a GUE instructor. Diver C is a NAUI tech course director. Thank
GOD no one was TDI affiliated. <cheap shot, hehehe> The problem is NOT
agency
standards. Often we are quick to blame the
agencies, but they're NOT our baby-sitters. Its diver complacency. At some
point in time, these individuals must have displayed some competency --
currently, they're displaying questionable judgement - thats it. >>
