Mike The knife goes on the left, so that it is retained by the belt buckle and not lost if the waist strap is undone. The position is right next to the crotch strap when the buckle is tightened, thereby making it easy to find in an emergency. The popular solution, put the hose under the knife, brings up another question though- which hip does the knife belong on? I could swear that I read in an article that it goes on the left hip. Does it actually go on the right? I'm basically ambidextrious (I suck equally well with either hand, especially typing) so that is not really a concern for me.
