Let me start by saying, I am not a smoker, I haven't been sense I was 13. Most of the people I know smoke and yes, I do wish they would stop. Now let me say to everyone, get off it! Talk about beating a dead horse. Someone said, soon smokers will be a small minority. I doubt that, smokers are now and have long been the majority. They have a legal right to smoke. If you don't want to dive with a smoker fine don't dive with them. If you are mad that dive boats allow smokers, find a boat that doesn't or buy your own boat. Just as the majority of people smoke the majority of divers smoke as well. Yes, your right smoking does make it harder for people to do physical activity, I hold a black belt, been training sense I was 14, a lot of people who I have trained with smoke, and it was hard for them. Now let me address this attitude some of you have that some people shouldn't dive. You call people fat slobs and such. Personally I find this offensive. Diving is not hard, in fact compared to most sports golf and bowling included its damn right easy. Its relaxing, and once you get all your gear on and your in the water there is almost 0 physical effort its all mental. Get a life people. someone commented a while back that most people could never "tech dive" because they don't have the discipline, get a clue will you, you are no better than anyone else, the only difference is what you happen to be interested in. When I was 6'3 320 pounds, before I was a scuba diver, I was a snorkel diver. I would routinely dive to 40 feet, stay for a while then pop up, average time under 3 to 6 minutes depending on what I was looking at. then I would take a breath and go back down. I spent hours doing this. I would like to see one of you "I'm perfect look at me I'm DIR guys do that." not that 'm 6 "3 250. its still just as easy. By the way, when I was 320, in my martial arts training, I won almost ever tournament I went to. We didn't to that 3 points end of match crap, we did rounds full contact. win by points or knock out, you want to talk physical effort? My conclusions from this list. One, smoking can kill you, but so can scuba or bungy jumping. Two, Trey and MJB you have both found a method of diving that works for you, great I'm happy for you. Three, Trey and MJB you are both worthless assholes, all you can do is fight, and Trey you can't be bothered with questions, when answering questions about diving is your only worth as a human being. Think about if you were to die tomorrow the only thing anyone in this world would miss is the info. That's why your wife is often seen with MJB MD. So sit down have a coke shut the fuck up and do what you here for, answer each and every one of our questions, and do it nicely. Four, DIR seems to be a good way to dive, and I will continue to look into it. Five, there will be more to come.
