I like to use the decorative rope light you can buy at Home Depot or Builders Square, or whatever you have in your neighborhood. Get the minimum length (1 foot), in the clear color, plus the connector and plug. If you use heat shrink tubing instead of the screw on connector, it will fit through even 5/8" steel tank necks, and gives a LOT of light compared to most shop inspection lights I've seen.
