I think the term you would get less flames from is "Hogarthian."
DIR is GI and JJ's baby, they define it, they dive it.

Cobb is very right, if not polite. Its a system. I have a couple dive
buddies who are also physically limited, and cannot get into/out of a 1
piece harness, and one must use a shoulder dump (head on with a sheep truck
on his motorcycle while visiting Australia). However, they are not DIR and
dont claim to be.
