All you have to do is = understand what the curve (s) look like and use standard gases. = Adjusting the entire curve + or - is all that is done in most deco = software. Knowing where you are on the curve for ongasing and relating = that to the off gassing curve is actually easy. Now, that being said, = there are some who have to adopt a different shape to the curve (slower) = due there own inherent ability to get bent, regardless of physical = condition or other circumstances.=20 If you get enough dives in and cut enough deco you begin to FEEL the = deco and it becomes natural. In a corny metaphor it would be the = difference between knowing what the matrix is and being able to = manipulate the matrix.=20 OK, that was stupid, but for your average dive of less than 300 ft = depth and less than an hour on the bottom, it becomes easy to adjust on = the fly. That doesn't mean you don't run the risk of getting bent-you are = just in your own comfort zone of risk. I've done shitty deco and felt = it, but the right deco feels good. I'm not saying I have it figured out-but I know what it should feel = like. And of course when teaching you still must follow the standards. = For my own diving and my close friends, we cut it to fit what we like, = and I'll tell the same story to anyone who asks-EZ p.s. What to do ? Make up a new deco = schedule on-the-fly using the old one as a starting point. =20 =20 My point, by listening to the people who actually dive instead of = those who read it in an agency manual, you can learn to do it properly. =20 Out of interest, I just re-ran the profile and it was almost spot on. =20 Simon Murray, South Africa ------=_NextPart_000_005B_01BFC8B9.A2775DE0 Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META content=3D"text/html; charset=3Diso-8859-1" = http-equiv=3DContent-Type> <META content=3D"MSHTML 5.00.2314.1000" name=3DGENERATOR> <STYLE></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=3D#ffffff> <DIV><FONT size=3D2>You are correct Simon, It's all in the experience. = All you=20 have to do is understand what the curve (s) look like and use standard = gases.=20 Adjusting the entire curve + or - is all that is done in most deco = software.=20 Knowing where you are on the curve for ongasing and relating that to the = off=20 gassing curve is actually easy.
