Subject: RE: Trey - Apeks Reg Question
Cc: "David M. Thiesfeld" <david@cw*.co*>
I would like to mention that if you don't like dealing with Seaquest, you
would be better off dealing with Zeagle even AFTER they run out of the
current Apeks regs. Zeagle's new regs are almost identical to the Apeks.
They even have most of the parts interchangeable. They have added a
replaceable seat to the first stage, so if it's damaged you replace it
instead of throwing the reg body away. The second stages use the identical
guts that the Apeks uses. They have reduced the overall size a little and
changed the shape of the exhaust valve to an oval. If you looked at the
new Zeagle first stage, you wouldn't be able to tell that it was different
unless held side by side with the Apeks (the Zeagle is very slightly longer
because of the internal seat modification. The modifications made were in
the engineering process over the last five years. These were mods that
Zeagle proposed to Apeks, but were not implemented by Apeks, so Zeagle is
now doing it on their own. I have not personally tried the new Zeagles
yet, but attended their equipment repair seminar at DEMA and was impressed
when we were shown the new units. THEY ARE STILL AN APEKS REG with a few
MINOR mods. The Zeagle is what I WILL BE USING when and if it's ever time
to retire the Zeagle-Apeks I currently own.

Take a look at them before you go off to a different style reg. I
personally like the environmental seal method of the Apeks and Zeagle over
the others!

My 3 cents.
