Bryon, this is such a bullshit statement it boggles the mind. You really need to go to www.wkpp.org and get a feel for what a multilevel dive is really like. Trimix computers are being marketed to lazy people who are scared of generating tables and simply don't understand how decompression or deco planning works. You plan your dive and dive your plan. How do you plan your dive? On a computer equipped with a tables generating program like Decoplanner. You can run all sorts of computations with various scenarios to fully understand your dive, the implications of gear failures and the responsibilities of the safety divers. You cannot reasonably do this with a trimix dive computer. And if the planning is done on a PC and then downloaded to the dive computer, this means you have to bring a computer along anyway. So, it seems logical to me, that you then write the profile on a slate and dive that profile. Fool proof, simple, no chance of failure. What advantage would a trimix dive computer give you? If you think that the computer will somehow magically take advantage of multi-level diving and get you out of the water sooner you are in la-la land. I will guarantee you that if you take a Decoplanner dive profile set for the max depth using the same gasses you will get out of the water sooner than any computer on the market. Why? Simple. Lawyers. Your average dive computer is so padded with excess time it is hilarious. I am basing this on personal experience. I have a DiveRite Nitek3 which I take on all dives. I used to use it for deco but now I put it in gauge mode and after the dive I dump the profile to a computer, print it out, punch holes and put it in my ring-binder log. Now that's lazy. Some profiles can be viewed on: http://www.cisatlantic.com/trimix/divecharts/divecharts.htm Jim ------------------------------------------------------------------- Learn About Trimix at http://www.cisatlantic.com/trimix/ > > Bryon Bertrim wrote: >> >> I like many others went to a dive computer because a table could not account >> clearly for multi level and multi stop decos.
