Dear Friends of Diving ! In cooperation this Robert C. from Halcyon ,we modified an existing explorer wing with an additional grommet hole 21 cm upwards from the original bottom hole. This makes it very easy now to attach an Explorer wing to the IDA 71 as a BC device ( the original russian version comes without bc). If you want to get this modified wing, please contact Halcyon at www.halcyon.net direct as i am not acting as a dealer. The original part-number should be extended by "-rsdas" to reference to this modification. SIDE-EFFECT: In Europe (at least in D,A,CH) 10 - 15 years ago there were backplates and single webbing harnesses around which was used in conjunction with the "horse collar" as a bc-device.After the jacketstyle BC came to the market this configuration disappeared slowly . There were also very nice (DIR style) manifolds for doubles for this equipment available.Unfortunately the maximum tank -distance of this manifolds was to short to change to the US-Style Bands instead. The harness and the manifolds went to cellars and got dusty. With the above mentioned modified EXPLORER wing, you can easily reactivate this equipment by putting the wings between the backplate and the tank as the bolt distance is on this harness also 21 cm !!!!. Add the 3 recommended 3 rings (2 shoulder & 1 hip) to the single piece webbing and you have a nearly DIR rig at a cheap price ( The difference to DIR is the backplate material. It was/is a kind of plastic and not metal) By the way i want to point out the incredible reaction speed and flexibility of HALCYON. I ordered a Test-Wing on a tuesday and had it modified the next monday on my desk.(From US to Switzerland !!!) I Thanks very much for listening Didi (Zurich) Manatee Divers Int'l HQ CDAS (Cave Diving Association of Switzerland) HQ RSDAS (Russki Schnuffski Diving Association of Switzerland) HQ http://sport.freepage.de/rsdas Didi Wagner ------------> wae@te*.co* -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
