Hi everyone, So, I received John's package yesterday. I tried to post a very nasty message to the list but I guess the server is slowing down with all the praise for him or I just screwed it up. If it gets up there I'm OK with that, and if not that's OK too. I'm still getting replies so I'll try to send this in a lower amperage version to just let everyone know the final score, and I did promise quite a few people I would post to the list about resolution so I feel I have to do it. Bottom line: The box was not mailed on the day I ordered as John claimed publicly on this list. It was not mailed for 28 days. Postmark was 3 May, delivery time eight days, and the Post Office was NOT to blame as many assumed. John lied to me, and to the list, and the truth would have prevented this conflict (and saved me time and energy). The following links, http://members.aol.com/watsoncjw/package1.jpg http://members.aol.com/watsoncjw/package2.jpg clearly show that John invoiced me on 04/05/2000, and did not mail the box until May 03, 2000. If you read his post, and look at these pictures, I'm sure you'll see he lied, and that this does constitute bad service. He knew each time he told me it was in the mail or ignored my email what the real deal was, and consciously chose to lie. All this could have, and would have, been prevented if he had just been straight with me. That really pisses me off. So far I've gotten a huge number of responses. About 75% have gone to the list as well as to me, and about 95% of the writers took up for John. It's very clear he does give good service to many. I am not one of them. Please understand that I don't claim he screws *everyone*, just that he screwed me. Note to John's friends: Your loyalty does you credit, but just view this with an open mind. The pictures tell the tale. I have straightened things out with the bank, John will keep the money he charged for the gear I received. I emailed him yesterday and he said he could not explain the date discrepancy. You be the judge about that. I wanted to do three things: get my gear (done), make some kind of protest about the way I was treated (done), and warn others who might be in my situation (did my best). I won't be writing about this any more unless something very unexpected happens. That's really all I can say. Hey, if you've had good results with the guy, by all means keep using him. I just want everyone to deal straight and have some fun dives. Chris -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
