Thanks for everyone pointing out that my local nitrox supply does indeed mix by partial pressure methods, however they then analyse the final mix. Perhaps I mis-read the original post by Tracey, <tab@go*.at*.co*> as I was under the impression that she was going to be mixing without analysing, and this is what I was questioning the accuracy off! When I did my course, I was told that there was only currently 1 place in the UK that premix into storage banks - all others do the O2 first then top up with air method. My instructor (Richard Bull) also menioned that the mix never changes from the shop to the dive site. He analyses his own bottles at the dive site before using them, as well as in the shop when mixing them, and has never had a discrepancy. Richard Chapski <Chapski@RI*.SC*.Sy*.CO*> talks about hydrocarbon-free air from a compressor - When my dive shop installed their compressor, they were recomended to use a particular brand of oil in the compressor and RB used this, believing that the manufacturer knew best - the oil that he uses is a totally synthetic oil - no hydrocarbons. It does cost X times more than "normal" stuff, be he is glad now that he used it! Gordon
