Folks, About a month ago there was some conjecture on this list as to the availability of the original Oceanic Spring Heel Straps as advertised on a UK list. Well, it was entirely genuine and I actually got two pairs, except that a (now former <g>) mate immediately muscled the second pair out of me. Right now I still use Mares Power Plana Graphites. Pretty bullet proof, good kick but in sea water a little buoyant, nevertheless I'm pretty happy with this (second) pair and will only go to Jetfins when the latter finally kick the bucket, especially since I'm only a seawater diver. I've seen (thank you gentlemen) the mounting techniques for these straps from a number of our stalwarts but I worried about then getting them onto Jetfins if I modified, "bent the wires", of the Straps themselves. So I went to a mate of mine who makes tailor made gear locally. It seems an elegant solution, given the constraints above and I have a couple of pics and, of course, can produce more detailed ones if required, essentially the current ones are only snapshots. Anybody want to host it? Cobber, Jon B, Todd L? Note, please, alpha order that. Essentially it attaches the Straps to the original mounting points via webbing, is tantamount to bullet proof and does not physically change the original Straps in any way.
