> "STOP - ASSESS SITUATION - REGAIN CONTROL" ? Stop - Think - Act... That's a quite simple threesome that we teach even in the NAUI OW I course. The real danger comes along when one omits the middle section (Think)... On to another posting... >The main difference is that climbing a mountain is a sportive purpose, >try to explain me that, deep diving is a sportive purpose , and i will >explain you that narcosis is physiological , and could not be the >result of a training (after a certain dive level ). Well, climbing that mountain certainly is physiological too as Gerrit pointed out quite nicely in his post so I won't discuss that here. Narcosis may be physiological, however, different people suffer from narcosis at different levels, and, as has been discussed several times, diving to successively greater depths, one builds up either an immunity to narcosis, or, one learns how to deal with it such that it does not affects ones decision making process (possibly both). I have done dives on air as deep as 254' with no appreciable narcosis. On such dives, I stay very focused on the task at hand, of which there are normally 3. #1) Keep track of depth #2) Keep track of buddy #3) Keep the video pointing at something interesting (or whatever the task at hand happens to be). -Carl-
