Jim Cobb, Scott, Friends You hit it on the head. For most Tri blending is near voodoo black magic , clearly you guys have demystified things for your selves and in due course so will I. The shroud of bull shit is fading away fast. From the variety of public and private posts received it is clear that there is still a lot of controversy and misinformation about Tri blending in the very heart of the Tech community. (There were so many conflicting replies) The courses taken from IANTD were blending for Nitrox only and they serve well to get you out the gate. At some point you need to take your first breath from your own blended mix it is the same for Nitrox and Trimix. After that it is all down hill, you are a blender and a mixed gas diver for real. In fact i consider Nitrox the most important because it all comes down to the crucial PPO2. I can not see how exact PPHe and PPNi are really 1000 percent important. Blending is not rocket science after 6-7 months i have no problem hitting + or - one percent and most times its bang on man. If not i try to fix it or blow it off and start over, end of story. On a personal note blending for me came about not because i wanted a sissy 32 mix but rather i wanted a high test 80 mix of O2 for deco. And after all the IANTD bull shit i went through including my intro to OMS etc. I said fuck it and now i mainly use 100% O2 for deco. Why kiss some snot nosed kids ass at the dive shop when it comes to Oxy cleaning or certification just use 100% O2. 99% of the shops out there don't know what the fuck they are talking about even when it comes to Nitrox basics let alone Tri blending. Everybody going down the same road i am should get a copy of the Oxy Hackers Handbook before taking any courses. At the very least it will make you the biggest Ahole in the class from the instructors point of view. see www.conknet.com/~g_packard/OXYHACKER.HTML Next week question will be "Whats the real world story on Oxy cleaning" What is very funny is the tirade you guys put on for such a simple question. I will sit down and think up some more to keep you guys busy. A simple YES you can use the same whip for Argon would have been just fine. Thanx for making me feel so loved Bryon out Jim Cobb wrote: > IANTD.
