I am sure a lot of people already done it, but just want to share something for the guys haven't yet... A while back, George was posting about he had somehow calculated his deco schedule in his head *while* decoing in the water. I thought to myself "How the hell do I learn how to do that ?" And I still haven't a clue until I did a little project over the Easter week-end with the GUE Decoplanner. I wanted to create a set of trimix tables so I don't have to fire up the laptop everytime I need to calculate the deco schedule. So I decided on a fix MOD PPO2 (1.2), a fix END (30m) and fix 2 deco gases (50, 100%) to be used independently of MOD. For each increment of 5m from 50 to 100m, I calculated the deco schedule for different BT in increments of 5 min. I also generated alternative schedules for each step if I had lost one of the deco gases. In addition, I generated tables for each BT gas at PPO2 of 1.4 (10m more) in case of needing to go deeper for whatever reason. After a while, I could "guestimate" the deco schedule of the next depth or BT increment pretty accurately. I am not saying that I could calculate my schedule in my head like George, but if I had dropped the deco table (done it before) I could whip out another table for another depth or time, estimate it accurately and not be a decoweenie. And I feel that I only need to memorize 2 or 3 tables and could inter/extrapolate the rest easily. I guess the tough part will be when I add a third deco gas for the deeper dive. Wonder how that would affect everything so far ? If you see any flaws, please comment. -Phi -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
