Greg, They welcome anyone and everyone. I live north of the Loop in the Gold Coast of Chicago. I don't know which trains you would catch to come from Indy. I catch the red line south, transfer over to the Blue line, get off at UIC and then catch the number 8 Halstead bus. It takes me about 45 minutes to get there. I don't know how long it would take from where you are. I would try to find one in your local area if at all possible. It makes it easier to attend. As far as not swimming well I would still go. The coaches do exactly that. Coach. So if you have a weak kick or suck at swimming, it is their job to get you up to speed with the rest of the group. Let me know if you have any other questions.
