My question is, how can I best plug an OMS burst disk? The disks are
shipped
as a proprietary, molded unit, not as separate pieces. I'm beginning to see
why George hates this company so much. >

The disks are proprietary, and fit only OMS manifolds, but are not molded as
a single unit, they are no different in configuration than other manifolds. A
buddy and I bought two manifolds from OMS last year. We assembled our rigs
and had them filled with 17/50. The next day, one of my buddies burst disks
blew and dumped his mix. The next week, I was on my way to Montauk to dive
the Doria, and mine blew in the car, almost knocked out the windows. When we
ripped apart the manifolds, they had put lp disks in hp manifolds, mine
actually had two on one side, and one on the other. OMS was notified of the
problem, they offered nothing, and said basically tough shit on the mix and
your trip. We have now found out at the 2000 Beneath the Sea, from an OMS
employee, that a whole batch of manifolds had been produced this way at the
third party manufacturer, they had to inspect all manifolds in house, and now
do all BD insertion at their own shop. Needless to say, no recall was ever
done, or notification of the problem with the LIFE SUPPORT equipment to the
diving public, even being fully aware of the problem, and potential drastic
ramifications. We are currently trying to get some satisfaction from OMS, as
they said they would make it right at the show, but we still have total
silence in regards to our emails sent after the show. For all those out there
that purchased an OMS manifold last year, and do not rebuild them annually, I
strongly suggest a check of your disks.

Best regards to all,

Kevin
