Wakulla Springs - April 1-2

Exploration teams picked up where they left off nearly 2 years ago and =
set the pace for this coming season with several impressive dives into =
O-tunnel. WKPP divers have been waiting for the system to clear since =
last year and with weeks of dry conditions the stage was set.

Setup began at 6am Sat. morning with David Lennon, Nanci LeVake, Larry =
Ficker, Jerry Moore, and Michael Blitch placing the decompression gas, =
food, and equipment for 9 gas divers and 5 rebreather divers. We were =
fortunate to have 2 surface managers making sure everything went in on =
time and to the right depth. Dawn Kernagis and Heather Hunsucker did an =
outstanding job and made sure everything ran smooth from start to =
finish. I cannot recall a weekend where ALL O/C teams were gone before =
9am with RB teams right behind. I cannot thank the support team enough =
for a perfect setup, in-water support, cleanup, and packup. You guys are =
truly amazing and stayed with it throughout the night and into the next =
day.=20

OC Team 1 (Baxter, Gol, and Hunsucker) moved 6 stage bottles out to 2200 =
to jump the 4500 OC team.
Bottom time: 30 min
Avg Depth: 260ft
Gas: The Real Deal

OC Team 2 (Jackson, Koritz, and Deschamps) ran drive scooters and =
bottles for the RB setup team to 3500.
Bottom time: 40-45 min
Avg Depth: 260ft

OC Team 3 (Landon, Armantrout, and McKinlay) ran drive scooters for the =
primary RB setup team to 4500.
Bottom time: 60 min
Avg Depth: 260ft

RB Team 1 (Werner, Cole, and Rose) moved drive bottles, safeties, and =
scooters for the primary RB team to approx. 10,000.
Bottom time: 200+ min
Avg Depth: 260ft

RB Team 2 (Jablonski, Irvine) moved safety equipment to 14,000 and =
continued on to 18,000 area to assess leads.
Irvine and Jablonski will publish detailed reports

Day 2 OC Team (Armantrout, Kortiz, and Deschamps) retrieved 3-42 amp/hr =
scooters from 4500 in 48 minutes. A huge thanks to these guys for =
stepping up and getting it done. Flawlessly I might add.

RB teams left the beach between 10-11am Sat. morning with the first team =
returning around 2pm and the final team returning to the basin around =
7pm. It was looking like a long night as the support team geared up and =
hit the water. I cannot thank these guys enough for staying with the RB =
divers, removing their gear, and keeping them stocked with whatever it =
was they needed including "green tea". I'd like to hand out "busted =
ass" awards and acknowledge everyone but the list is too long. New =
people on site deserve mention for picking things up so quickly: Allen =
P, David R, and Thomas T. Also, Chris Beck and Walter Gordon for =
handling the entire setup on Sunday. Honorable mention to the late =
night team of Jeff Carson, Chris Elmore, Robert, Dave Sweetin, Scott =
Hunsucker, Michael Blitch, Dawn, Jerry, Allen, Jan, Larry, Billy, =
Cameron, Scott Cox, Heather, and David "TIL DAWN" Lennon for staying =
with JJ. If I forgot anyone I apologize.

I would also like to thank the BMA film crew and Barry Miller for =
sticking with it this weekend and working around an ever changing =
schedule. We look forward to the footage and appreciate the coverage.

Target date right now is April 28-30 which will be a 3-day weekend. =
I'll post mid-month for availability and will need everyone as this will =
be even larger.

Project Coordinator
Casey McKinlay
