Ben- I just took my first trip to Bonne Terre a couple of weeks ago, and overall I'd say that it is worth seeing if you have the time to do at least 3-4 dives. The cost is kind of high (~$60 per dive) and regardless of your experience level you end up being forced to do a very basic first dive to demonstrate your abilities, including a couple of skills like mask clearing and buddy breathing in front of an instructor. What this means is that if you only do one dive, you'll go away unsatisfied. However if you have the time to do several dives, there's some fairly interesting stuff to see as a collection of the old mining equipment and the associated structures are still there and in good shape. Putting in 3-4 dives a day is easy too, since the water is a constant 54F and the underground location allows them to run day and night without any real changes in condition. The dive company is fairly well run, but a little more anal than usual about the paperwork and waivers. You have to use their tanks (there's a color-coding system to differentiate divers from divemasters) and can't bring your own lights (the regular trails are well lit, and the divemasters use their lights for communication and general tour-guiding). Be sure to bring a book to read for surface intervals tho - there's not much to do around town while offgassing for the next dive. They have a website at http://www.2dive.com/ with a bit more info. All in all, I'd give it a 6 or 7 out of a possible 10. It's definately worth doing at least once, but be prepared for the first "training" dive and overall cost.
