Thanks to all who responded privately to me about this. The consensus was that heliox is preferred if the goals are to eliminate nitrogen narcosis, and to effect rapid off- gassing of inert gas (besides deco on 100% O2). But one respondent stated that DCI with helium is well-documented and just as dangerous as nitrogen. Has anybody seen this, a decompression accident with heliox, and was treatment similar to a nitrogen hit, i.e. Navy table 6 or 6a? Again, would like to hear facts, not opinions/rants.
