Diving Lake Superior in April is @#$%ing cold. 6 guys
and temperature guages all read <32 at depth. Ice
diving in Minnesota has typical water temps of 35
degrees. Diving in this cold requires lots of layers.
Argon helps, but even with that, you're only good for
40 - 60 minutes and mobility sucks. The major problem
is keeping the hands warm enough to function.

As for Seattle, it's balmy compared to that. I wear a
set of polypro underwear and a pair of Andies Undies.
I'm good for well over an hour before getting cold; more
if I'm working harder.

I've used the TLS suit in both conditions and it works
great. (The ice just peels right off!) The only
problem is that you need to get it big enough to fit the
undergarments, yet small enought that you're not diving
a ballon.
