I can't tell you what is the accepted norm, but I can tell you I like. When
penetration diving (wreck - I'm not yet cave) I use jet fins. With their
size and stiffness, I feel like they are almost part of me (don't know if
that makes sense but it does to me). Good power and control in small places.
For OW fun, I have found I really like the bio's. (Okay I'm ready... send on
the flames) For some strange reason people either love or hate these fins. I
have found that most of the most adamant detractors have never had a pair on
their feet. I can tell you that I move along with less effort when I am
wearing them and everyone that have borrowed mine to try have also liked
them. One of the dive shops here in Houston will let divers borrow a pair to
try. That's how I got hooked!
I also have a pair of those first purchase price/color fins that I bought
while getting my first certification. I stopped using them about six years
ago but never got rid of them.
Thanks,
Rick
